What it is

Chunky chips of organic coconut husk, compressed into one easy brick. Add water, fluff, and spread it on top or mix it in. It locks in moisture, helps keep weeds down, and improves your soil as it breaks down, naturally. The chunky pieces leave open space between them, so the layer stays loose and airy.

How to use it

Hands lowering a compressed mulch brick into a wheelbarrow
1

Place the brick in a large container

Choose a container with room to spare, like a wheelbarrow or a big tub. The brick grows a lot as it soaks, so give it space.

2

Add water and let it soak

Pour water over the brick and give it time to drink. Add more a little at a time until the chips stop absorbing it.

3

Fluff the expanded chips with a fork

Break apart any clumps so the chips are loose and airy. This makes them easier to spread evenly.

4

Spread 2 to 3 inches around your plants

Lay the mulch around your plants, keeping it a little clear of stems and trunks. Then water as usual. You can also mix the chips into the soil.

Good to know

How much water

Add water gradually and stop when the chips stop soaking it up. You can always add a little more.

Spreading depth

A layer of 2 to 3 inches works well. Keep the mulch clear of stems and trunks.

Storing extra

Keep any unused portion dry. Store it in a covered container until your next project.
